The method is sometimes referred to as the Stanard-Buhlmann method=2E It i=
s=20=
similar to the Bornhuetter-Ferguson (BF) method in the weight that it assigns=20=
to the a priori estimate of losses (and the complement of that weight given to=20=
the loss development estimate)=2E However, it differs from the BF method in the=20=
calculation of the a priori loss estimate=2E Instead of an=20=
arbitrarily-determined (or externally-derived) a priori loss estimate, the Cape=20=
Cod bases its a priori loss estimate on the overall loss development result for=20=
all accident years combined=2E=20=

All right, now you've gotten me curious=2E A dangerous thing=2E I have
heard mention of this "Cape Cod" method for estimating loss reserves=2E What=20=
the dickens is it?

People who use descriptive names make the world a happier place=2E May
their tribes increase=2E
