A minor quibble. Pascal is not the only language with a different symbol
for ?assigns?.
APL uses the left-facing arrow. I always thought that made far more sense
than using an equals symbol.
Also Mathematica distinguishes between ?assigns? and ?equals?, but it does
so using a single equals sign for ?assigns? and a double equals symbol ?==?
to mean equals. (As in ?x^2==6?, solve for x). I like the fact that they
make the distinction, but I wish they had created a new symbol for
?assigns? and reserved ?=? for ?equals?.
BTW, I am stunned that this seemingly simple problem could generate so much
intersting traffic.
