The actuarial profession has provided an international student like me great opportunities for career growth and success. I was able to complete my lower-level exams in my undergraduate through the support provided by my university and the insurance company that sponsored the exams. I continued the pursuit of actuarial credential after I graduated from the graduate school in the U.S. I’ve served on a number of committees after I became a member of CAS. Serving on the CAS Board allows me to continue to make a contribution and support an organization that makes a difference.
I have over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, where I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing the insurance industry. I would like to collaboratively work with others on the board to help CAS navigate these challenges and promote the importance and significance of our profession.
We are living in a world that has rapidly developing technologies like A.I. which are impacting all industries including insurance. We need to think about how this will affect the training of our candidates, should the current curriculum for the exams be changed to adapt to the new technology, how should the current members seek continuing educational opportunities to keep up with the changes, and also how do we attract the young generation to pursue actuary as their career. We want to make sure that CAS remains at the forefront of actuarial science and the CAS board need to take initiatives that embrace these rapidly developing technologies.
