Abstract
In April 1960, a select committee was appointed by the Legislature of the Province of Ontario "to examine, investigate, enquire, study, and report on all matters relating to persons who suffer financial loss as the result of motor vehicle." In the first interim report made in March 1961, they dealt at considerable length with the various situations which exist in different provinces and states and in particular covered in detail the system used in Saskatchewan where certain basic payments for death, dismemberment and disability are made to person injured in automobile accidents regardless of fault.
