Abstract
It is unnecessary for me to say how much I appreciate this opportunity to renew my contact so long interrupted with the members of the Casualty Actuarial Society, as well as the honor of being the first in the part of today's program to be contributed by the past Presidents. The occasion of the celebration of the tenth anniversary is of such importance that I feel that I owe this meeting my humble apologies for not coming prepared with a careful paper, such as the occasion deserves.
