Reinsurance Reserving I

Abstract
This session provides a basic understanding of loss reserving principles, considerations and techniques as applied to reinsurance assumed. While reinsurance reserving principles are generally similar to direct reserving, their sound application to reinsurance is difficult. Topics covered in this session include: Reinsurance contract types, IBNR group definitions, development complications, adjusting for claims reserving practices, and applying specific reserving techniques. The “how to” will be discussed when faced with the various problems of reinsurance reserving.
