Study Note on Published Financial Data of Canadian P&C Companies

Abstract
This study note describes published sources of financial information related to P&C insurers and reinsurers in Canada in order to assist actuaries in their analysis of other companies’ financial health. The information included in each source is detailed. The sources include: the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), the Reports of the Provincial Superintendents, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), the GAA, Statistics Canada, the Report of T.R.A.C. Insurance Services Ltd., Stone and Cox, Canadian Underwriter (published by Southam), the SCOR Report, Perspectives (published by the IBC), IAO Quarterly Review (produced by IAO Actuarial Consulting Services), and The Belton Report (produced by Ted Belton of RBC Underwriting Management Services Inc.).
