The Valuation Actuary Handbook

Abstract
The purpose of the Handbook is to aid actuaries in performing cash flow testing to evaluate reserves for life and health insurers. It is intended to be a “how to” manual containing the latest considerations and techniques for the valuation process in the public domain as of January, 1987. The Handbook also contains some practical applications. One chapter provides a legal analysis of the role of the valuation actuary. Some chapters deal with the determination of the surplus required in addition to the basic reserves that will assure a higher degree of adequacy of assets.
