CAS and iCAS Staff Present on PCPA Requirement at I.C.E. Exchange
Staff from the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and The CAS Institute (iCAS) recently presented at the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (I.C.E.) Exchange conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado about the creation and implementation of CAS’s innovative Property and Casualty Predictive Analytics (PCPA) exam requirement. I.C.E, a professional association that provides education, networking, and other resources for organizations in the credentialing industry, hosts its annual Exchange conference to explore cutting edge developments in the credentialing ecosystem. The PCPA requirement was announced by the CAS in May 2023 and officially launches in May 2024; it will feature both an exam and a hands-on project to assess CAS candidates’ essential skills and practical application of predictive analytics.
CAS and iCAS staff who presented on the innovative techniques used to design and implement the PCPA included:
- Alicia Burke, MBA, iCAS director of portfolio & product development
- Margaret Lyons, ICE-CCP, CAS director of certification development
- Ashley Zamperini, CAE, CAS director of certification products
Presenters were also joined by Chad Buckendahl from CAS partner ACS Ventures, LLC. Presenters shared their challenges and opportunities creating the PCPA, including how credentialing programs across industries can assess practical experiences that reflect real world work.
CAS CEO Victor Carter-Bey said, “The creation of the PCPA has been a huge accomplishment for the CAS and is the reflection of countless hours of incredible work by both staff and volunteers to pioneer this concept for the organization. CAS and iCAS are both dedicated to innovating our credentialing programs to meet today’s needs and are honored to serve as a role model for other associations looking to incorporate real-world skills and concepts into their credentialing assessments.”
