CAS University Recognition Program Expands as Additional Schools Honored
As Insurance Careers Month (ICM) concludes, the CAS is thrilled to announce the addition of 20 colleges and universities being honored through the CAS University Recognition Program for their commitment to supporting students on the property and casualty actuarial career path, bringing the total of schools recognized by the CAS to 38. This is an exciting way to close our month-long ICM campaign to inspire the next generation of actuaries, which has included a virtual case competition for university students and the release of a series of CAS member and candidate profiles.
The CAS University Recognition Program offers three levels of recognition, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. All schools recognized are featured on a CAS website list that employers and prospective students can consider as a “go to” resource for identifying programs focused on property and casualty actuarial education.
Through the latest round of applications, four universities are being recognized at the Silver Level and 16 at the Bronze Level.
Universities that have achieved the Silver Level are preparing their students for careers as property and casualty actuaries by covering material on the CAS credentialing pathway within their curriculum, offering real world experiences through property and casualty research, case studies, and case competitions, and having CAS actuaries represented on their advisory boards.
Silver Level:
- Asia Pacific University
- Purdue University
- Robert Morris University
- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Universities at the Bronze Level are exposing their students to the property and casualty actuarial career path through their participation in the CAS’s University Programs including the University Liaison Program, Student Central Program, Student Ambassador Program, and Academic Central Program.

Universities at the Gold Level have met the criteria within the Bronze and Silver Levels, and in addition, they offer dedicated property/casualty insurance courses, place property and casualty actuaries on their faculty and/or advisory boards, and graduate actuarial students with jobs in the P&C field and who have obtained credit for CAS credentialing requirements.
Applications are now open to all universities on a rolling basis.
