Volunteer with Actuarial Professional Analysis (APA) Focus Groups!
As was recently announced, the CAS is launching the Actuarial Professional Analysis (APA), a comprehensive evaluation that will allow the CAS to validate or redefine the importance of content areas to current and future actuaries.
All CAS members and candidates will have an opportunity to provide input to the evaluation, but there is currently a unique opportunity to contribute to the project in the form of focus groups. The groups will be divided into four potential topics (note that these topics are still subject to change):
- Mathematics/Statistics
- Finances/Economics
- Risk Management/Insurance
- Ratemaking/Liabilities
Additional topics will be divided across sessions and include AI, Climate Risk, and DEI, among other things.
Focus Group Requirements:
- Volunteers must be CAS candidates, Associates or Fellows.
- Each topic will have an hour of prep work followed by a 2-hour long focus group (three hours of volunteer work total per participant).
- Each group will consist of 4-5 subject matter experts, with a total of eight focus groups.
- The focus groups will be held in mid-July, starting at or around July 10.
If you are interested in participating in this next phase of the APA, please complete the APA Focus Group application by Sunday, July 7. The estimated time to complete is 5 minutes. For questions regarding the focus groups, please contact APA@casact.org.
