Volunteers Needed to Develop New PCPA Exam

The CAS Admissions team is looking for volunteers to help with the new Property and Casualty Predictive Analytics (PCPA) requirement for ACAS. This offering is a new testing experience for candidates and will feature both an examination and a project-based assessment, designed to help candidates and professionals in the actuarial field gain a deeper understanding of key concepts and improve their predictive capabilities.
The PCPA is designed to be a foundational assessment of predictive analytics knowledge and applied practice. As this is a new offering and there is no committee yet, this opportunity would be a good fit for people who are interested in long-term or short-term volunteer opportunities.
Here is a breakdown of the roles that we’re looking to fill, the number hours estimated that volunteers will spend, and the approximate month(s) it will take place:
Revise content outline (2 hrs) | February |
Write new exam items (20 hrs) | February and March |
Write new case study (10 hrs) | March, April, May |
Revise grading rubric (2 hrs) | March |
Grade projects (20 hrs) | July |
PCPA volunteers are expected to have a strong understanding of all covered topics for the exam and project, which are described in the PCPA content outline. Additionally, a PCPA volunteer is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society or a Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics (CSPA).
If you fit the parameters for qualification and are interested in becoming a PCPA volunteer, please reply to admissions-volunteer@casact.org indicating the role(s) that interest you and we can provide you with more information regarding this volunteer opportunity.
