The CAS Admissions team is looking for volunteers to help with the new Property and Casualty Predictive Analytics (PCPA) requirement for ACAS. This offering features both an examination and a hands-on project component, designed to help candidates and professionals in the actuarial field gain a deeper understanding of key concepts and improve their predictive capabilities.
We’re seeking approximately 50 volunteers who are FCAS credential holders with modeling experience to assist with item writing and grading over the course of 2025. If volunteering for grading, there is no obligation to participate in each grading session, rather you may sign up for as few or as many as interested and available.
Here’s a breakdown of the opportunities:
Item Writer (up to 40 hours over a 3-month period, mid-Feb-May):
- Writing questions to go on future exams
- Writing Assessment Screening Questions to assist with Grading
- Will edit (potentially create) a new PCPA project
Grader (up to 15 hours in Spring, Summer, and Fall)
- Work with a partner on initial grading PCPA Projects
- Work with a partner to reconcile any disparities between grades
Item writers are invited to the writing summit which is taking place April 13-15 in New Orleans, LA. Travel is reimbursed, and this is a great opportunity to network with Admissions volunteers from other exams!
Here is a resource for some Frequently Asked Questions regarding volunteering for the admissions department as well as the guidelines for our Reimbursement Policy if you sign up for item writing.
Please email admissions-volunteer@casact.org to express your interest in participating in this new, niche opportunity!
