Casualty Actuarial Society's Envisioned Future
The CAS will be recognized globally as the premier organization in advancing the practice and application of casualty actuarial science and educating professionals in general insurance, including property-casualty and similar risk exposure.
Continuing Education Credits
The CAS Continuing Education Policy applies to all ACAS and FCAS members who provide actuarial services. Actuarial services are defined in the CAS Code of Professional Conduct as "professional services provided to a Principal by an individual acting in the capacity of an actuary. Such services include the rendering of advice, recommendations, findings or opinions based upon actuarial considerations". Members who are or could be subject to the continuing education requirements of a national actuarial organization can meet the requirements of the CAS Continuing Education Policy by satisfying the continuing education requirements established by a national actuarial organization recognized by the Policy.
This activity may qualify for up to 15 CE credits (not including workshops) for the RPM Virtual Seminar for CAS members. Participants should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. CAS members earn 1 CE credit per 50 minutes of educational session time, not to include breaks or lunch.
Note: The amount of CE credit that can be earned for participating in this activity must be assessed by the individual attendee. It also may be different for individuals who are subject to the requirements of organizations other than the American Academy of Actuaries.
Virtual Seminar Recordings
Recordings of the seminar are available to attendees for the day they sign up for. They will be available on the platform for 90 days and then on UCAS for five years. Virtual Seminar attendees will get a discount of $50 for the other days’ recordings they did not register to attend live.
For those that do not register for the seminar, recordings will be $150/day and $250 for the full event.

Keynote Address: Avoiding An Extinction Event: Evolution To Artificial Intelligence In The Property & Casualty Insurance Industry
Severence M. MacLaughlin, Ph.D
Founder and Managing Partner, DeLorean Artificial Intelligence
With the evolution of Big Data and a digital awakening across the global market place the new tech buzz word is Artificial Intelligence. It is on the tip of everyone’s tongue, but is there substance behind the marketing machines that have brought to market AI personas such as Watson, Amelia, Holmes & Einstein?
Different market sectors have started to evolve in the adoption of Artificial Intelligence at different speeds with financial services in terms of banking and investments as being one of the quickest to invest BUT deriving a low ROI. Why is this? Is it better to be the tortoise or the hare in the AI race? What is the right way to invest in AI as an Insurance carrier? Does it change based on the size of the portfolio insured? How should the actuarial department look to enhance its capabilities and role within the company? Does the company have the leadership capabilities to ensure that the investment drives an ROI and is not a science project?
These topics and more will be discussed.
