Help Create a New CAS Case Competition!
Short-Term Volunteer Project (March-August)
The CAS Case Competition Task Force is responsible for developing and maintaining property and casualty case competition materials for universities including case studies, data workbooks, and introductory presentations. The Task Force is seeking short-term volunteers for the creation of a new case on loss cost modeling and ratemaking processes.
Volunteers will develop the case between March and August, and can expect to spend 2-4 hours per month creating the materials, completing them in time for the fall semester. This volunteer opportunity is open to Candidates and CAS Members. If you are interested in volunteering, please email CAS University Engagement Manager Margaret Kerr at MKerr@casact.org
Become a CAS University Liaison
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity/Limited Time Commitment
The University Liaison Program was created to facilitate the partnership between the academic community and the actuarial profession. University Liaisons partner with educators and student groups at their schools to share the exciting prospects and resources that the CAS and the P&C industry have to offer. University Liaisons accomplish this by making campus visits and presentations, talking with students on an individual basis, advising faculty on curriculum matters, and sharing the extensive resources available through membership in CAS Student Central and Academic Central. University Liaisons are given access to off-the shelf presentations, infographics, and documents to distribute while on campus.
We’re seeking CAS University Liaisons to several universities including Georgia State University, Drake University, Morgan State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Temple University, and University of Houston. To access the full list of target schools visit the CAS website.
Open to all CAS Candidates and Members, this volunteer opportunity is a great match for new Associates and Fellows and requires a limited time commitment with 1-2 visits to campus annually. If you would like to become a CAS University Liaison, please fill out this short form and a CAS staff member will be in contact with you. Additionally, please email CASstudentcentral@casact.org with any questions.
CAS University Award Program Judges
Short-Term Volunteer Project (April-June)
The CAS University Award Program is accepting additional volunteers to join its panel of judges to select up to three winners for the 2022 cycle. Winners will be recognized for the exemplary and innovative ways they expose students to the property and casualty career path. The judging process will span April-June. Applications will be reviewed electronically, and judges will meet over a series of up to four videoconference meetings. Volunteers should factor in up to 6 hours to review the applications.
This volunteer opportunity is open to all CAS members. If you are interested in volunteering, please email CAS University Engagement Manager Margaret Kerr at MKerr@casact.org
Please note: University Liaisons with schools under consideration and active academics will be excluded from the judging panel.
