The Spring Meeting Working Group (SMWG) issues the Call for Presentations for the 2023 Spring Meeting. Speakers are expected to travel in-person to the meeting to present.
General sessions will be 75-minutes long. Concurrent sessions will be 50-60 minutes long. Roundtables will be 50-minutes long. We also seek mini-workshops with hands-on interactivity on May 9.
We are looking for sessions in the following key areas:
- Actuarial Toolkit (R, Python, Data Manipulation, Data Visualization)
- Bias Training
- Business Skills (Leadership, Strategic Planning, Communications, Actuary of the Future, DE&I)
- Cyber Risk
- Economic Outlook/Inflation
- Emerging Issues (Solar Storms, IOT, Real Time Data Sources, Insurance Linked Securities)
- Enterprise Risk Management
- ESG/Climate/Sustainability
- Insurtech/Fintech
- International/Multi-National Issues
- Line of Business (Construction Defect, WC, Personal Lines, Commercial Auto, Insurance Lifecycles, Cat Modeling – Particularly as Roundtables)
- Predictive Analytics
- Professionalism
The 2023 proposal reviewers will also pay particular attention the following criteria:
- Informative and relevant, with clear and immediate application to the work of audience participants.
- Strong proposals will focus tightly on specific content rather than including every aspect of the topic and will include opportunities for learner engagement.
We are looking for sessions that focus more deeply on a narrow topic that will help the audience leave the session with solid understanding and useful applications.
