Improved MAS Practice Exams Now Available
The CAS is pleased to share that updated computer-based practice exams are now available for the MAS Exams. Candidates who took the MAS practice exams last October performed better on their actual exams compared to those who did not; 71% of candidates who took the practice exam passed their MAS-I exam, and 80% passed their MAS-II exam. The practice exam questions were mapped to the MAS Content Outlines and reviewed by a separate task force to ensure quality and representation of exam material.
These MAS practice exams are a slightly modified version of the practice exams that launched last October, which were developed through a partnership program between the CAS and vendors who already serve our candidate community with exam preparatory services; The Infinite Actuary, ACTEX, and Coaching Actuaries. Several of the questions were recently reviewed and adjusted for clarity based on candidate feedback.
The four-hour practice exams consist of 45 questions that can be completed on one’s own device in an un-proctored Pearson VUE environment. Candidates will be able to use the practice exams to mimic the experience they will have on exam day, enabling them to gauge their time management, ensure they are familiar with the Pearson VUE environment, and familiarize themselves with the newer item types such as multiple selection, point and click, fill-in-the-blank, and matching.
At the end of the four-hour exam, or when the exam is submitted, candidates will immediately receive a score report with the number of items they answered correctly in each domain. Candidates will also receive an answer key and have up to 24 hours to review their exam against the answer key. During the 24-hour review period candidates will not be able to change their answers. Please note that a candidate's score on the practice exams is not a predictor of whether they will pass or fail the actual exam.
Candidates can register now for the MAS practice exams for $99. A full FAQ for the practice exams can be found on the MAS landing pages.
