With the input and support of the CAS, the SOA Joint Risk Management Section is holding an ERM Web Day - a three-part webcast series on October 12. This series is for ERM Practitioners who want to learn more about ERM in a Pandemic World and who might have attended a CAS-SOA-CIA Enterprise Risk Management Symposium in the past.
11:00 AM-12:15 PM ET - Reflection and Lessons Learned
This session will discuss, where we have been, how we have fared, and what we may need to consider going forward as we evolve our enterprise risk management frameworks. Join us in a discussion of the latest issues regarding impact of COVID-19 on Insurance Companies. The pandemic and lockdowns have affected all aspects of life - commuting, childcare, contracts, travel, and office space. What will a new normal look like when we re-emerge? This session discusses a reflection of the past 12-14 months. In addition, this session will explore some of the major themes and outlook that ERM specialists should account for in the aftermath of COVID-19, including economic, environmental, geopolitical, social, and technological emerging risks. Join us for a reflective and insightful opening session.
12:45 -2:00 PM ET - A Regulatory/Rating Agency Viewpoint and Discussion
This session will provide discussion, from a regulatory perspective including, but not be limited to:
- Industry outlook by sector (life, health, casualty) in the wake and after-math of COVID-19.
- Early leanings from the results of stress testing and economic capital modeling on the insurer’s financial strength and liquidity
- Considerations of a Company’s Enterprise Risk Management framework and related disclosures as it effects ratings and insurance department examinations now and in the future
Considerations of these topics and more will be discussed in an interactive dialogue amongst the panelists and the audience.
2:15-3:30 PM ET - A Brave New World Aftermath, Implications, the Economy, and Future Emerging Risks
This session explores some of the major themes from the morning sessions and discusses the numerous ramifications that ERM specialists should account for. This session explores the global economic outlook in the era of and after-math of COVID-19 and the resulting perspectives around emerging risks. Risk areas discussed will include economic, environmental, geopolitical, social, and technological risks.
The registration fee for Joint Risk Management Section members is $175. The registration fee for individual access is $200. Registration closes October 11.
