Registration for Property and Casualty Predictive Analytics (PCPA) Offering Now Open

Registration is now open for the Property and Casualty Predictive Analytics (PCPA) offering, a new two-part requirement for the ACAS credential focused on assessing predictive modeling and analytical skills. Previously announced in 2023, the PCPA has both an examination and project component, including a two-hour multiple-choice exam and an independent, hands-on project. The PCPA will be required for the ACAS credential starting January 1, 2026; however, the exam and course are also available to any CAS member that wants hands-on experience and a deeper exploration of the topic.
The project portion, which was created by a team of experienced actuaries who specialize in predictive analytics in partnership with Pearson VUE and The Institutes, utilizes innovative predictive modeling techniques to help candidates and professionals in the actuarial field to gain a deeper understanding of key concepts and improve their predictive capabilities.
Registration is a two-step process, based on the two parts of the pending requirement:
- For the exam portion, registration remains open indefinitely, as the exam will be available and administered continuously through Pearson VUE exam centers.
- Registration for the current sitting of the project is now open and will close on March 7, 2025 (with the project taking place March 16, 2025 - March 31, 2025).
Candidates must pass the exam before registering for the PCPA Project. Anyone who does not pass their exam attempt can take the exam again after a two-week waiting period. After successfully passing the exam, candidates will then have one year to complete the project portion. The project will be completed by candidates independently, in a setting of their choosing, and will require the use of a computer.
For the project, candidates will be sent the materials and given two weeks from when the materials are distributed to submit their final project.
It is recommended that candidates take PCPA after completing Exams MAS-I, MAS-II, and 5 within the ACAS credentialing pathway, and therefore it is assumed that they have foundational knowledge of predictive analytics concepts and applications.
