The Casualty Actuarial Society is hosting the inaugural Academic Summit: Teaching Tomorrow’s Actuaries, an event designed to advance property and casualty actuarial education.
Whether your university is actively engaged in property and casualty topics or exploring ways to expand its actuarial offerings, this Summit will offer a unique opportunity to access teaching methodologies, industry insights, and valuable networking opportunities with fellow faculty and CAS professionals.
Summit Objectives
- Equip faculty with tools to develop comprehensive, engaging coursework for students, including effectively leveraging existing CAS resources and programs.
- Promote the integration of property and casualty actuarial topics in university curricula, ranging from introductory to advanced actuarial courses.
- Foster collaboration between academia, the insurance industry, and the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Share best practices and innovative teaching approaches to improve property and casualty actuarial education.
The registration deadline is May 16, 2025. This is a limited attendance event, with a maximum of two registrations per university. Once capacity is reached, additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list.

Registration Fee Includes:
- One pre-paid hotel night (night of June 16, check out June 17) at the Westin Arlington. Upon registering for the summit you will receive a link from the CAS to select your hotel dates and preferences. CAS Staff will be managing your hotel reservation.
- Lunch on both Monday and Tuesday, a Monday evening reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres, and breakfast on Tuesday.
Please note: The hotel room block will accommodate attendees requiring early arrival on June 15 at their own expense.
NOTE ABOUT REGISTRATION
The CAS recently introduced the CAS Portal, our new and improved e-commerce platform and user database. You will need to follow the instructions below to update your account in the CAS Portal, if you have not already, in order to register for this event.
As an Academic Central member, you had a CAS account in our previous system. Please visit the CAS portal to access our new system. The first time you log into the new system you will have to reset your password, set up multi-factor authentication, and update your personal and professional profile, which will all take about 15 minutes. If your Academic Central membership is not listed under “Membership” please add it from the section entitled, “You may be eligible for the following membership.”
To update your profile, you must go screen-by-screen in order and hit "Update or Confirm" in each section until you see "Profile Update Successful" before completing other transactions. Please refer to these instructions for logging into the CAS Portal for the first time. You can also visit our FAQ on the new system if you have questions.
