Recruiting Writers this Spring for CAS Exams in New Orleans!
The CAS Admissions Department is currently recruiting for item writers this spring for the following exams:
- Exam MAS-I (Modern Actuarial Statistics I)
- Exam MAS-II (Modern Actuarial Statistics II)
- Exam 6C (Regulation and Financial Reporting Canada)
- Exam 6I (Regulation and Financial Reporting International)
- Exam 6U (Regulation and Financial Reporting US)
- Exam 7 (Advanced Estimation of Claims Liabilities)
- Exam 8 (Advanced Ratemaking)
An item writer is an FCAS who has recently passed the exam and is expected to have a strong understanding of all covered topics for the exam. ACAS volunteers can write for exams MAS-I, MAS-II, or any of the 6 exams, however, they cannot sit for an exam for three years post-writing.
Writing will take place at Marriott New Orleans in New Orleans, LA April 13-15, and while there is a strong preference for in-person participation, volunteers can write virtually for selected exams as well.
Here is a resource for some Frequently Asked Questions regarding volunteering for the admissions department as well as the guidelines for our Reimbursement Policy if you sign up. Training will be provided prior to the writing summit, and volunteers can opt to modify existing items rather than writing new items from scratch, which is a great way to ease into the role!
If you fit the parameters for qualification and are interested in becoming an Exam Writer this spring, please email admissions-volunteer@casact.org with your exam preference and we can provide you with more information regarding this volunteer opportunity.
