The actuarial field related to non-life insurance and the financial industry continues to evolve, making it vital for professionals from around the world to share ideas that lead to innovations and improvements. In the spirit of pushing ideas forward, we present the 2022 Actuarial Colloquia, which comprises the AFIR-ERM (Finance, Investment & Enterprise Risk Management) and ASTIN (Non-Life Insurance) Sections of the International Actuarial Association (IAA). The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is delighted to host the all-virtual 2022 Actuarial Colloquia.
The Casualty Actuarial Society, Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and the Society of Actuaries Research Institute are pleased to make available results from the 2021 Emerging Risks Survey, the fifteenth in the series. Conducted by Max J. Rudolph of Rudolph Financial Consulting LLC, the survey incorporated a set of Emerging Risks defined by the World Economic Forum as the basis for several of the questions.
The Actuarial Standards Board of the American Academy of Actuaries approved an exposure draft of a proposed revision of Actuarial Standard of Practice (ASOP) No. 41, Actuarial Communications. The ASOP applies to actuaries when issuing actuarial communications in any form (written, electronic, or oral) within any practice area.

In traditional GLM modelling, categorical features are often treated with one-hot encoding. However, this method of encoding removes any ordering information inherent in the data. With accurate GLM, we propose to utilize an alternative encoding approach which allows us to preserve the ordering information, without requiring that the variable be converted to numeric form. In this presentation, we will introduce the accurate GLM approach to modelling, discuss what motivated the approach, and illustrate the approach through simulated data modelling exercises and a case study.

As actuaries work more and more with teams of data scientists and software engineers, they are more likely to encounter use of the Python programming language. While R is an environment for performing statistical analysis, Python is a general purpose programming language.
This workshop will provide an introduction to Python and show how to perform data collection, data visualization, and data analysis in Python. There will be six 90-minute sessions.

The virtual Predictive Analytics (PA) bootcamp is a five-week virtual course.
The PA Bootcamp will cover topics from both the classical statistics and machine learning paradigms. The content will be self-contained and designed for beginners with little or no experience with data science. We will leverage and provide introductions to predictive modeling in R and Python.
