Fall Exam Writers Needed!
The following Exam working groups are seeing volunteers to assist with writing this fall:
- Exams MAS-I and MAS-II (Modern Actuarial Statistics I and II)
- Exam 5 (Ratemaking and Estimated Claim Liabilities)
- Exam 7 (Advance Estimation of Claims Liabilities)
- Exam 9 (Risk Management for Actuaries)
Writers are responsible for creating the actual content of the exam using source materials, questions from previous exams, and other methods. An item writer is someone who has recently passed the exam and is expected to have a strong understanding of all covered topics for the exam. Additionally, a Writer is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Volunteers are expected to begin writing virtually in August. There will be a training session online, and a writing summit September 22-24 in Philadelphia, PA. There is a strong preference for writers to attend the summit in-person. Travel to the summit will be reimbursed by the CAS.
If you fit the parameters for qualification and are interested in becoming an Exam Writer, please reply to admissions-volunteer@casact.org with which exam you’re interested in and we can provide you with more information regarding this volunteer opportunity.
