CAS members are invited to attend the 2023 Annual Meeting of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA), scheduled for August 3 - 5, 2023 at the Marriott Marquis hotel, Chicago.
The meeting is open to all who support IABA’s mission to contribute to an increase in the number of black actuaries and to influence the successful career development, civic growth and achievement of black actuaries.

The CAS Nominating Committee wants your input on the slate of candidates for the 2023 CAS elections for the Board of Directors and President-Elect. Any member may submit a nomination, and if you are a Fellow of the CAS, you are welcome to nominate yourself. Fellows may also submit a petition to be placed on the ballot; see additional details on petitioning below.
As an incentive for encouraging nominations, the CAS will award up to ten $100 Amazon gift cards to individuals whose nominees are selected by the Nominating Committee to be included on the 2023 ballot.

The CAS Research Council is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to gauge the impact of climate change on the insurance industry by product line.
The virtual Predictive Analytics (PA) bootcamp is a six-week virtual course.
The PA Bootcamp will cover topics from both the classical statistics and machine learning paradigms. The content will be self-contained and designed for beginners with little or no experience with data science. We will leverage and provide introductions to predictive modeling in R and Python.

The Casualty Actuarial Society invites you to be a part of an exciting seminar for fall 2023. The Casualty Loss Reserve Seminar Working Group is soliciting your submission of proposals for presentations at the upcoming event scheduled for September 11-13, 2023, in Orlando, FL.
The CAS is seeking volunteer mentors to participate in the 2023 CAS Student Central Summer Program, an eight-week interactive professional and educational experience for university students spanning June 12 thru August 4! This free online program, designed by practicing actuaries, will support students’ career growth by providing technical and soft skill development through a series of weekly modules.

This webinar is complimentary to non-North American audiences in the CAS.
In late May, actuaries from around the world will travel to Sydney, Australia to participate in the 2023 International Congress of Actuaries. Many CAS members are planning to be in attendance, and CAS President Roosevelt Mosley, FCAS, will be featured as a keynote speaker at the event.

The Casualty Actuarial Society invites you to be a part of the CAS Webinar planning process. The Webinar Working Group is soliciting your submission of proposals for upcoming CAS Webinars through fiscal year 2024 (September 2023 – October 2024).
U.S. commercial auto insurance liability claim payouts increased $30 billion more than would otherwise have been expected between 2012 and 2021 due in part to social inflation, according to an updated paper published today by the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I), in partnership with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).
As previously announced, the work of the CAS Admissions Transformation Plan (ATP) began with the Job Task Analysis (JTA) conducted in 2020, which resulted in recommendations for the high-level domains1 and tasks2 covered on each exam in the ACAS and FCAS exam pathway. This foundational analysis helps to inform the enhancements to all CAS exams, and we are now pleased to announce changes to Exams 7, 8 and 9.
University Liaison Program Volunteers Needed
In support of the CAS Strategic Plan, the CAS has an objective to increase its presence on college campuses, and the University Liaison Program, with the help of CAS volunteers, can help meet that objective. You know that the CAS is a great organization. Let's make sure that students know that, too.
