Arlington, Va. – September 8, 2022 – The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) has announced the results of its elections, with Frank H. Chang, FCAS, being named president-elect for 2022-2023. Chang will begin his term at the close of the 2022 CAS Annual Meeting in November and will go on to serve as CAS president for 2023-2024.
The CAS Fall Volunteer Recruitment Campaign is now open, which means through September 30, nearly all CAS committees, working groups and task forces are recruiting new volunteers! The 2022 CAS election ballot is now available to be completed online. Voting members (Associates who have been members at least five years and Fellows) should have received an email from our online elections vendor, Skypunch Technology, with instructions for accessing the ballot.

The virtual Predictive Analytics (PA) bootcamp is a five-week virtual course.
The PA Bootcamp will cover topics from both the classical statistics and machine learning paradigms. The content will be self-contained and designed for beginners with little or no experience with data science. We will leverage and provide introductions to predictive modeling in R and Python.
CAS members are invited to attend the 2022 Annual Meeting of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA), scheduled for August 11 - 13, 2022 at The Roosevelt Hotel, New Orleans.
The meeting is open to all who support IABA’s mission to contribute to an increase in the number of black actuaries and to influence the successful career development, civic growth and achievement of black actuaries.

This intensive bootcamp features lectures, group Capstone Projects and time for individual engagement with our instructors. This course will give the attendee an introduction to the R programming language, with the objective of preparing attendees to be able to apply what they've learned upon completion of the course. To that end, the focus is on direct, interactive content delivery.

It will attempt to analyse and understand the factors influencing COVID outcomes in different parts of the world by comparing examples in UK and some sub-saharan African countries. The Board has committed to reviewing this strategy on an annual basis to ensure that our efforts evolve over time in response to community input, strategic successes and challenges, and changing environments.
