Exposure Draft of the CAS Continuing Education Policy

In September, the CAS Board of Directors authorized the release of the Exposure Draft of the CAS Continuing Education Policy, with a comment deadline of December 19, 2008. In an effort to ensure that members and employers of actuaries are fully aware of the proposed continuing education policy and how the policy will affect them, the CAS is offering a complimentary Webinar. Enterprise Risk Management

Rick first covered steps in the risk management process and possible goals of that process. He then discussed the evolution of ERM as well as its current state. He next covered issues in ERM implementation, the components of the ERM process, and the keys to success in ERM. Rick then discussed observations from the CAS ERM online course as well as issues faced in advancing ERM. He concluded with a discussion of both the challenges associated with ERM and the benefits he sees from that process.

Effective means of presenting DRM results

He began with an overview of the work completed by a CAS Working Party he co-chaired, which focused on how to present DFA results. He then walked through a sample presentation, pointing out the specific aspects of that presentation that were most effective in communicating highly technical results. He also gave examples of PowerPoint slides to be used in such presentations.
