The 2024 Fall Casualty Actuaries of Europe (CAE) meeting was held in Lyon, France on Monday 16 September 2024 at ISFA University. Please see agenda listed above and presentations linked below for more information.
This prize, established in 1997, is made to the author of a paper published by the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA) that provides the most valuable contribution to casualty actuarial science.
Papers eligible for the prize include articles, workshop articles, and invited papers published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance during the preceding year. Papers published in new ARIA journals may also be eligible for this award. If no paper is considered eligible in a given year, the award shall not be made.
The CAS is excited to announce the addition of seven colleges and universities being honored through the CAS University Recognition Program for their commitment to preparing students for the property and casualty actuarial field, bringing the total of schools recognized by the CAS to over 50. We commend the faculty and staff at these universities for their efforts in equipping students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for successful careers as Property and Casualty actuaries.
The CAS is continuing the next phase of the Actuarial Professional Analysis (APA), a comprehensive evaluation that will validate or redefine the importance of content areas to current and future actuaries. Next up: the APA Survey.

This prize was established in 1993 in recognition of Charles A. Hachemeister's many contributions to Actuarial Studies in Non-Life Insurance (ASTIN) and his efforts to establish a closer relationship between ASTIN and the CAS. ASTIN was created in 1957 as the first specialty section of the International Actuarial Association (IAA).

Arlington, Va. – October 18, 2019 – The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) today announced that its Board of Directors has confirmed the recommendation of its Search Committee, led by CAS President Jim Christie, to appoint Victor R. Carter-Bey, D.M., M.B.A., as the new CAS chief executive officer.
You were in the midst of final exam preparations, and you decided you needed another look at the exam syllabus. Perhaps a question came up at work and you wanted to consult one of the exam papers. Or maybe you wanted to register for a webinar or the Spring Meeting. Whatever it was, something prompted you to go to the CAS website, and once it loaded you thought, “Wait a second … does this look completely different?”
Last month CAS members virtually joined an array of actuarial science experts promoting education, research and interaction within the industry at the 55th Actuarial Research Conference (ARC). The ARC provides an opportunity for academics and practitioners to meet and discuss actuarial problems and their solutions. The 2020 conference was hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, August 10-12.
The day is finally here! The day you’ve been waiting on for four long months. No, I’m not talking about exam day; I’m talking about the day after your exam. That blissful day when you wake up and realize that your free time is your own again (at least for a couple of months). No guilt about binging the latest TV show (Bridgerton, anyone?), and your friends and family are all happy to see you emerge from your studying cocoon. But, while you’re enjoying the time away from studying, there’s also that small anxious feeling … because now you are waiting for your exam result.
