The Casualty Actuarial Society’s new “Quick Start” Research Grant Program provides a quick and easy proposal and approval process to expediate funding for projects requiring timely research. Potential funding for qualifying research can be up to $50,000.

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute's Committee on Knowledge Extension Research (CKER) announce the 2025 Individual Grant Competition to support the advancement of knowledge in actuarial science.
The proposed research project, which may be theoretical or empirical in nature, should have the potential to contribute significantly to knowledge advancement in actuarial science.
“Understanding and Coping with the ‘New Normal’ in Insurance Inflation" explores the challenges actuaries are facing as they account for the “new normal” of recent structural social and economic changes that are dramatically altering cost trends in some property-casualty insurance lines.

To help address concerns around study strategies and timing, the upcoming October/November sitting window has been extended as follows:

Exams 5, 6C, 6I, 6U, and 8 – October 23, 2024- November 5, 2024
On May 1, 2024, many candidates had a disrupted exam administration experience due to Pearson VUE technology issues. This included candidates who completed their exam but experienced technical issues, candidates who partially completed their exam with technical issues but who could not submit their final exam, and candidates who could not take their exam at all.
Understanding the importance of exam progress to our candidates and their employers, the CAS decided that all candidates scheduled to sit on May 1 would have the option to reschedule and sit for their exam.
The Exam 6C (Regulation and Financial Reporting, Canada) working group is looking for three volunteers to perform the role of Pre-Tester to review the exam for the Fall 2024.
A Pre-Tester may be a top performer from a recent exam sitting or other qualified volunteer and has passed Exam 6C within the past five years. We need three pre-testers for each of the following domains:
